I will review recent developments and future plans for the the Liverpool Telescope, the UK's premier observatory for transient and time domain astronomy. I will also present our plans for a 4-m successor to the LT, the LT-2. This facility will build on our experiences with the LT, and will likely focus on spectroscopic follow-up of transients discovered by LSST and other facilities in the next decade.
