AGNs
Active Galactic Nuclei
Recent results are beginning to resolve structure on milli-arcsecond to micro-arcsecond scales in Active Galactic Nuclei. A variety of astro-tomography methods, including gravitational microlensing, reverberation mapping, and interferometry, are resolving accretion disks, broad emission-line regions and associated dust structures on scales from light days to parsecs. Stemming from these methods are several proposals for measuring quasar distances that may be accurate enough and extend to high enough redshifts to provide useful constraints on cosmology. The session will discuss the latest results and future prospects for resolving AGN accretion flows and determining quasar distances. Reports of recent theoretical or observational studies on black hole accretion flows will also be welcome.
