Astronomy Outreach and Public Engagement in the 21st Century
We live in a world where members of the public and schools can easily access a wealth of astronomy information and data. At the same time, there is increasing pressure on researchers to provide evidence of the impact of their outreach and public engagement work. This session will allow for people working in all aspects of public astronomy (both active researchers and outreach/education professionals) to share their ideas and experiences, with a particular focus on digital and online outreach and public engagement with astronomical research. The session will comprise of a combination of invited and contributed talks on topics including, but not limited to, social media, citizen science, online engagement, techniques for reaching diverse audiences, and impact and evaluation.
