In this talk we present further observations of the solar wind particles
being accelerated to rather higher energies while passing
through the HCS. We show that the measured particle characteristics
(ion velocity, electron pitch angles and the distance at
which electrons are turned from the HCS) are in agreement
with the 3D PIC simulations of solar wind particle acceleration during their passage through a reconnecting HCS with strong guiding field as measured by
WIND. We also show a few examples of additional acceleration of solar wind particles during their passage through current sheets formed in a front of ICMEs. We find the key parameters of solar wind particles (anti-correlation of ion and electron fluxes and appearance of bidirectional field-aligned energetic suprathermal electrons) observed at the leading edge of ICMEs can be naturally explained by particle acceleration in 3D current sheets.
